Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Are your stair parts from Canadian and/or North American stair manufactures ?
A: We are very proud to say that the majority of all our in stock stair parts and custom mill work is 100% Canadian Made ( we actually have our own in house mill work shop, so we are in 100% full quality control over many of the items we sell ) ( for balusters we do not manufacture ourselves, we are aligned with the top manufactures in our industry so the quailty is second to none ).

Q: At what stage of construction should stairs be installed?
A: Stairs are typically installed prior to flooring and after drywall has been textured and painted.

Q: How much will my stair remodel cost?
A: The price for your remodel will be based on the exact material and labor details that are required for your specific project. We don't price in generalities or by linear footage. This method allows us to give our customers the best possible price. We offer several options and styles that can accommodate your budget.

Q: How long will my stair install take from start to finish?
A: Typically we will need two to three weeks to order any necessary material (we do stock a wide variety of products). Actual install time will vary, but most installs are completed within 3 to 5 days. Our Sales Representative will be able to give you a better idea upon review of your project.

Q: How are our rail systems installed?
A: In order to provide you with the highest quality product, we install all of our rail systems on site with raw material. Our systems are not pre-fabricated. This allows our Installer to properly fit each rail or tread to your homes actual specs. Stain and finish will be the last step.

Q: What can I expect during the staining and finish process?
A: After the actual install is fully complete, our Finisher will apply stain, sanding sealer and a lacquer. Most stain colors are hand applied, which allows the stain to penetrate the wood. The finished product will be strong, durable and make the staircase the center piece of your home.

Q: How much disruption and dust should I expect in my home during the install?
A: Our Installers and Finishers work clean and will treat your home with respect. We will set up our saw and equipment either outside or in a garage/covered area, in order to minimize sawdust. We'll do our best to contain dust and will shop vac daily, but expect light cleaning after the remodel is complete.

Q: I currently have half (pony) walls at my stair or loft area, can I remove those walls and install rail?
A: We do cut down half walls. We'll just need to take a look at the structural layout, but in most cases we are able to remove half walls easily and install open rail.

Q: Can I just replace the spindles in my rail system?
A: It depends on the type of spindle and rail that you currently have. Contact our Sales Representative for more details.
